Charles Leclerc Tops Time Sheets In FP2 (Pic Credit: Ferrari F1 ©)
By Harry Schofield:
Charles Leclerc managed to top the time sheets in Free Practice two in Austria, with Valterri Bottas in second Position.
Cross winds in this session was a big concern as the session was hit by two Red Flag Incidents.
The First Red flag was caused by Max Verstappen after he lost the rear of his Red Bull at turn 10, completely destroying the rear end of the car.
After the clean up operation had ended another Red Flag was out as Vlaterri Bottas lost control and put his Mercedes into the barrier at turn 6.
The G meter on Valterri Bottas’s car registered 25g, thankfully he was checked out in the medical centre and given the all clear.
Cross winds seem to be the main cause of the cars going off track and Sebastian Vettel had a luck escape as he lost the rear but manage to avoid the barriers.
Track and ambient temperatures are only set to rise, and with the added affect of cross winds causing major headaches for the teams .
The cars are set up for for optimal aero and are so sensitive to any sudden air/level change and this is a big problem at the Red Bull Circuit.
Race day the cars will have 110Kg of fuel on board so we will anticipate a safety car or two come race day.
