By Harry Schofield:

As the heat wave across Europe sets record breaking temperatures, Germany is on fire with track temperatures in excess of 48 towards the end of the session.

The Hass of Kevin Magnussen brought the first red flag of the weekend when his car suddenly shut down with a suspected sensor fault going into turn 13.

Mercedes have brought new livery for this weekend celebrating 125 years of competing in motorsport as well as their 200th F1 start.

Traffic seemed to be a big concern as Kimi in the Alfa Romeo had a near miss with slower cars.

Good pace by the Ferrari’s with Sebastian and Charles taking the top two places .

Lewis was in 3rd with the sister Mercedes of Bottas in 5th place.

Track temperature will be key and will favour the Ferrari's over the weekend, but Mercedes's will have the better race race pace.
