Monaco Grand Prix 2019:

By Harry Schofield:

Lewis Hamilton has taken a fantastic win at the Monaco Grand Prix, fighting off Max Verstappen, who had a 5 second penalty for an unsafe release in the pit lane.

When all the time penalty's came off it was Sebastian Vettel who took second position in the Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas came home 3rd and had a solid race with no real issues for him.

The whole weekend was overshadowed by the passing away of the great Niki Lauda, with all the fans/media supporting him wearing a red cap, a truly emotional and hard weekend for so many people.

It was a race of tyre preservation and not full downforce or mechanical grip which is a real shame.

The race came to a real nail biter in the last 12 laps with Max all over the back of Lewis Hamilton but as ever with Formula 1 its all a little too late.

For the spectators Monaco was the best race of the season, close wheel to wheel action and just the speed and direction speed of Formula 1 car’s is truly amazing.

Tyre’s will and will always be a continued issue and dominate the 2019 season, I don't think this is real racing its a tyre test, but lets see what the new regulations have next year.

Kimi in his 300th race had a close up with Lance Stroll on lap 39 but both cars not damaged enough to retire.

Ferrari did well with Sebastian taking second place with the Red Bull of Max Verstappen helping him with his 5 second Penalty.

Charles Leclerc had a good front run from his bad starting position, but ultimately he was to reckless making his way through the grid  hitting the barrier and had a left rear puncture which destroyed the Ferrari’s floor and bodywork, and took Charles out of the race as he was unable to continue to race in his Ferrari.
