Monaco Grand Prix Free Practice 2:

By Harry Schofield:

Mercedes continued to dominate Monaco with a one-two in free practice 2.

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of 1:11.189 with Valterri  Bottas just 0.081 behind him.

Red Bull’s impressive form in FP1 this morning came to an abrupt end as Verstappen’s car developed a water leak, when the car was eventually fixed it was soon back into the garage as it was  sliding around, the  balance of the car suddenly changed.

Most of the session was about qualifying simulation runs, the two Mercedes was in a league of there own the car looking well balanced and with massive traction in coming out of the load speed corners such as Lowes it looks extremely likely that they will take pole position for Sundays race.

Sebastian Vettel had a close call and narrowly avoided hitting the barrier as he was unable to slow down enough at Ste Devote corner.

Williams again at the bottom of the time sheet 4 seconds off the pace.

Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen continued with a steady but respectable 8th and 9th place in the Alfa Romeo’s .

Charles Leclerc was 10th fastest with his team mate Sebastian Vettel 3rd despite his earlier out brake and Ste Devote.

This afternoons session gave good insight to Saturdays Qualifying as most teams completing qualifying simulations in preparation for Saturday.

I would anticipate that the Q3 pole time will be in the late 1 minute 9’s that would be the fastest ever recorded time around the street’s of Monaco .
