Pirelli Grand Prix de France, FP2:

By Harry Schofield:

Valtteri Bottas set the quickest time in FP2 but that was not the main headlines .

Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes lost control and spun his car, then rejoined the track  in front of Max Verstappen, causing the Red Bull driver to take evasive action.

Again this weekend is surrounded by rule book’s and tyre compounds, we need racing not controversy.

Back in the 1990’s teams would be a second off the pace on a Friday, spend all night stripping the car down, manufacturing parts in the garage and Saturday they would put the car on Pole position .

Rules, embargos, and tyres seem to dominate Formula 1, we need good racers like Frank Williams or Ron Dennis to run the show and im afraid the lack of Bernie Eccelstone  in the sport is having a big affect on the Races, like him or Loath him Bernie would sort things.

Lando Norris continues to impress putting his McLaren in 5th position .

Alfa Romeo with Kimi set a good 9th place with his team mate Antonio Giovinazzi in 11th place.

It will be all to play for in Qualifying but we need to look at FP3 and see how the Red Bull’s and Renault’s perform.
